Overview

Welcome to the home page for the Sadoulet group at the University of California, Berkeley.

Our group's research focuses on the use of advanced instrumentation to probe the fundamental physics of the universe on the largest and smallest scales. Our primary research activity is the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS), an experiment to directly detect dark matter particles in terrestrial detectors. Berkeley is one of several institutions involved in the CDMS experiment, and Professor Sadoulet is the collaboration's Spokesperson.

The Berkeley group is also heavily involved in the development of advanced phonon- and ionization-mediated particle detectors operated at millikelvin temperatures. Current efforts include advanced phonon detectors based on Transition Edge Sensors and Kinetic Inductance, as well as detailed investigations of charge collection at low temperatures.

Our group also has interest in the phenomenology of the theories our techniques are beginning to test.
