The Basement

The basement acts as a step between the detectors, sitting at 20 milliKelvin (mK), and the amplifying equipment in the Tower, which operates at temperatures ranging from 600 mK to 4 Kelvin.

Connector tube

The connecting tube is a copper cyclindrical structure that separates the detector assemblies from the Tower.

Side coaxial assembly

The coaxial assembly sends data from the detectors to amplifiers in the Tower via superconducting wires, before the information is received by computers outside the cryostat. Click on the picture to the left to load a larger version of it and see Dennis' annotations!
